Joe Root 134 from 166 balls Ashes 2015 Innings Highlights

England lead the 5-match series 1-0. Australia will have a lot to think about after the woeful batting performance. They will have to go back to the drawing board to look at what went wrong. Haddin's drop of Root was the key as he wasn't off the mark and went on to make a century which probably took the game away. The bowlers will also have to do better. Johnson went wicketless in the first innings but batted well in the fourth innings to score 77 runs. However, it was too little too late as the top order failed to contribute. Will Australia bounce back for the second match? They certainly have the ability to do so.

So England register the first win of the series and they do so convincingly. They win by 169 runs as they bowled the Aussies out on day 4. The bowlers put up a splendid performance to bowl the visitors out in a day. Moeen Ali and Stuart Broad were the pick of the bowlers as they bagged three wickets each.

Joe Root gets the Man of the Match award for picking up a couple of wickets and his century in the first innings, it had to be him. We will be back for the second Test at Lord's on the 16th of July. Will Australia bounce back or will England win the second consecutive match? We will find out soon enough. Till then, goodbye and take care.

Alastair Cook - The crowd was brilliant and the support they showed was fantastic. This Test match couldn't have been any better. The guys are loving being around each other and it obviously helps when you are on top. We knew the chances would come and they are great bowlers. The catching was very important but the hard work pays off.

Michael Clarke - We were outplayed in all three facets of the game and have a lot to think about before the second Test. Hopefully Starc will be fit. If you get an opportunity as a bowling and fielding side you have to take the chances. The guys played really well but we didn't play the best cricket. If we get similar conditions we will have to play better than we did here.
