England vs Australia The Ashes 2015 Highlights and Match Stats

England vs  Australia The Ashes 2015 Highlights and Match Stats

That ends a riveting day of Test cricket! The Ashes are always closely fought and the day one already sums up the performance. England were put in early trouble as they lost their three wickets for just 43 runs but then Root and Ballance shared a 153-run stand that laid the foundation. Hazlewood struck again to remove Ballance while Root continued his purple patch. The run machine scored 134 runs at a pretty good rate but he was dropped on zero by Haddin earlier. Stokes played his natural game and hit a fifty as well as England posted a pretty good total at the end of day 1.

Can the English lower order post a big total first up? Or the Australian bowlers will run through to bowl England? Starc wasn't really accurate but he was getting movement even with the old ball. He picked up three wickets, as he removed all the middle order batsmen. Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers today though as he grabbed three wickets as well and was pretty accurate with his line and length as usual. Mitchell Johnson was a failure as the Aussie speedster couldn't get a single wicket today. In fact he bowled well but wasn't successful enough to get a breakthrough.
